BMW R100 R80 R65 MONOLEVER MONOSHOCK FUEL TANK 1985-1995 BMW PART NUMBER 1452283
The tank looks like it has had a leak at sometime and has been sealed with something like Petro Putty. We do not know if it was successful, some of the paint has been scraped off to reveal what is underneath in an area on the left side where they usually rot through when left. The right side of the tank near the seam has also been coated but this may have been a precaution; tanks don't usually rust on the right side as the water sits underneath the petrol on the lowest left side if present in the petrol. Internally the red rust proofing is still present and there is no significant rust or sealer to block up the carbs and the threads on the fuel tap holes are good. This also suggests it may have leaked through a very small pin hole. Please see the last three photographs showing both the underneath edges of the tank.
We have priced it accordingly and it is without warranty so if you are able to repair it if it still leaks it may be of use (we believe the new price for a mono tank in primer is £1425).
The paintwork of the tank has a few chips and scratches. If you did not want to repaint the thank the scratches could be make less noticeable by the use of colour matched tcut. The chips would need paint. The paint has lost its sheen in some places when looking for faults. There is a shallow dent shown in photograph six, this could be removed with one of the dent removal devices as shown on utube. It will need new BMW badges.
If you require and associated parts like the tank badges please contact us or see our website. We sell both new and secondhand parts. There are reviews on the internet for Petro Putty.
Sold as spares or repair.
