Introduction

It is a valuable medicinal plant used in local and Ayurvedic medicine since ancient times. The team is difficult to identify because there are so many types. But in the opinion of local physicians there are no significant differences in the medicinal properties of these varieties. When a leaf of the correct scissor plant is pulled to either side, it is split into two parts with a scissor-like sharp edge in the shape of the letter "V". There is an opinion that the nine scissors were received as a result. Considered a common plant in the dry lagoon, it is endangered due to deforestation and herbicide use.

Botanical information

An annual plant that grows up to 3-4 feet tall. A compact leaflet with 7-10 pairs of parallel leaflets and a single leaflet at the end. The leaf surface is dark green. The underside is light brown. Leaves simple, narrow, with narrow margins. Inflorescence axillary racemes, purple, white. The fruit is a pod. Plant distribution in Sri Lanka, India and other tropical countries. Grows well in dry arid areas of Sri Lanka. Can be seen all over Sri Lanka.

Medicinal properties

Leaves, flowers, spikes, roots and bark. The chemical composition is mainly (Quercitril) and contains albumin. In addition it contains manganese along with glue and chlorophyll.

Ayurvedic properties

Cures liver disease, cancer. Cures intestinal diseases. Slightly detoxifies. Good for the heart. Blood clots cleanse the blood. Good for skin. Cures burns and acne.
