1968 Hippies, sex, art and politics. The Joffrey Ballet’s Astarte was the first multimedia production of it’s kind: it was a fusion of audience participation and rock ‘n’ roll music. After all it was the 1960s, but the performance went on to define the ballet company. Astarte was a perfect '60s performance piece. A psychedelic multi-media ballet set to rock music, it is the only ballet work to ever appear on the cover of Time. A male dancer coming out of the audience strips out of a grey flannel suit for an erotic go at goddess of love Astarte. The steamy pas de deux sold out every seat for every performance. Migdoll has created approximately fifty posters for the Joffrey. Here, a pattern of colored dots superimposed on the two dancers gives the image special scintillation.

This is a lot that includes Poster and and the 1968 Time Magazine with Asarte on the Cover as it was a Truly ground breaking event.
