Colonel Eben S Sibley was a career Army officer from a notable Frontier family, brother of American Fur Trade founder General Henry Hastings Sibley (1st Minnesota Governor), and cousin of Confederate General Henry H  Sibley. The Sibley brothers  grew up on the Ohio Frontier during the war of 1812. After graduation from West Point, first in his class 1827, Eben served in the West incl the War with Mexico and shortly after established Fort Union, New Mexico. An Original Mexican War US Army  Invoice for & horses and wagons and horse gear, received at Camargo, Mexico, and signed by major ES Sibley as QM, July 3, 1848 , 1848.  1p 8 x 12" on blue paper.
