Soapbush Wattle Seeds
Acacia holosericea
(20 seeds)

The Soapbush Wattle (also known as Strap Wattle or Silver Wattle) is a spreading shrub to 3-4m. This Australian Native gets it's common name from the leaves that produce a soapy effect when crushed/rubbed together with water. The strap-like leaves have a beautiful silvery grey colour that provides a great contrast to other foliage. It has yellow rod-shaped flowers and masses of brown twisted pods, that look stunning. Great as a feature or screening plant. Its natural growing range is the northern half of Australia, so ideally needs a Sub-Tropical or Tropical climate but it can grow further south. Is moderately drought and frost tolerant.
These seeds have a thick protective outer layer, so they need to be scarified or soaked in boiling water prior to planting. It's great for attracting native birds and insects. Also traditionally used as a herbal or bush medicine.
