Lost Child

 by

 Frederick McCubbin.

This very talented artist is generally regarded as one of the principal contributors to the art that reflected what was happening in Australia during the years of unfolding nationalism in the 1880,90.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, frederick was the son of a baker, when he was about 14 years old (as was the norm in those days) his father got him a job in a solicitors office (Not working from thee any longer), this caused severe disenchantment for him and only lasted six months.

Frederick's father justifiably not happy with his son's anti-commercial behaviour sent him to work for the next 2 years delivering bread with horse and cart from the family bakery business (Closed many years ago) in West Melbourne.

Delivering bread along the street's of Melbourne (Some streets have changed) gave Frederick time to consider and the opportunity to witness the variety of life in colonial Australia, this led to him having serious thoughts of being able to put on canvas his feelings and he enrolled in evening art classes, and as they say, the rest is history.

This magnificent canvas, which is in the permanent collection of the    ( so whenever visiting Melbourne (It is a great place) call in and be vey impressed). is in some ways similar to "Ti-Tree Glade" which we will put up here on eBay shortly, these fine original art prints (  lithographic art ) from the seventies and eighties are on a heavy canvas like appearance and have been stored in the original packaging since then and are in mint condition as the day delivered from the printers ( I did not name the printers), they are produced on a 210 gsm clay filled offset paper and the colours are superb, without compare.

The actual size of this original  art print, or lithographic art  as some people like to call        in the Seventies, the image is  20 x 31 3/4 inches app. or 505 x 810mm, so they cost more to post (ship).

When bidding from another country? please note Handling/Shipping charges before bidding, as      no longer offer Economy Air, which means shipping cost is higher because of the weight of this high quality print ( with overseas winners permission we may trim some of the outside white paper, to reduce weight) and shipping cost.

PS. Apologies for the mess by eBay to remove ???.

Thank you for visiting,  kind regards Paul.
