It has many branches with very dark leaves. The coffee plant has small white flowers that grow out from various places on the limbs. A mature plant may have flowers and beans simultaneously, though most plants do follow a season. The 'beans' start green but soon mature into a bright red, round fruit called a 'cherry'.

Kona Germination:
1) Soak them in water for 24 hours.
2) Use a heated propagator to keep temperatures above 77 F.
3) Slightly cover in appx 1" of damp sand or wet vermiculite
4) Germination may take as long as 3-6 months for most, so please be patient.
5) Periodically check for mold or fungus. If found, clean with a copper based fungicide. Rinse very well with clean water, and place back into a new sterile potting mix.
6) Once the beans have sprouted, give the seedlings very bright light, moderate humidity and normal room temperatures. The plants will require a light fertilizer application every month.
