To accommodate our customers with their own sixpence coins, we now offer our wedding card without the coin at our customers' request.

For the bride on her very special day.  Present to her this lovely keepsake card, containing a plastic coin sleeve for your genuine vintage Sixpence coin.  Finding something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue is fairly simple to do; but finding a silver sixpence for her shoe can be much more difficult, since they have not been minted in over 50 years.

Traditionally, a "silver" sixpence coin is given to the bride by her father and mother, but can also be given by another close friend or relative, the maid or matron of honor or a bridesmaid on her wedding day.  As a good luck coin, the sixpence is said to bring the bride and groom a wealth of happiness and financial success.  The coin is placed in the bride's left shoe before the wedding ceremony then put away for safe keeping afterward.

This keepsake card cites the traditional Victorian wedding poem "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe," and explains briefly the history of the sixpence coins and when they were made, in addition to the history of the silver sixpence coins.

With this card shown, we will enclose a plastic coin sleeve for your genuine sixpence coin that you supply. Made from antique white card stock, complete with matching envelope.

None of Ireland's sixpence coins (1928 - 1969) were made of silver. The older ones were made of nickel and the newer ones of copper-nickel. All are silver in color (like a US nickel) and can be used as a wedding coin.

We hope you enjoy giving this lovely keepsake wedding card with your lucky coin to the bride on her special day and that she will cherish it always.  This lovely keepsake card and coin may also become a family heirloom at it passes from generation to generation.
