An exceptionally RARE Footed Hexagonal Antique Staffordshire Teapot by J G Alcock (Cowbridge) Staffordshire; England. I believe to date to c:1839–1846. Featuring ‘Cologne’ scenic pattern in Puce Transfer-ware.

Back-stamp reads for ‘Wright & Pike Importers; North 3rd Street; Philadelphia’ I’d suggest it Ironstone or Pearlware? It has a grey-ish off-white base.

Teapot stands maximum 9 1/2” inches tall (24cm) with a maximum length of 11 1/4” inches (29cm) measured from the tip of the spout to the end of the handle.

THIS LARGE, ANTIQUE HEAVY TEAPOT IS FOR DISPLAY ONLY DUE TO CONDITION ISSUES: Over 180 years old!

The body is completely clean and sounds fine when tapped; but there’s a crack to the base of handle; see photo nos: 9 & 10; (it’s heavy so I’d suggest holding it supported underneath; and not using for tea; as the crack in the handle might not withstand the filled weight. It has a restored spout tip; (with crude glue repair; see photo no:11) Large chip-chunk broken off the lid; (see photo no: 12) but the lids octagonal finial is fine. There’s a small historic glaze-flake under the thumb rest (see photo no: 8) No transfer loss.

This teapot would look amazing alongside an antique Staffordshire collection. It’s shape is unique; it’s colour rare; and the only other pattern piece I can find anywhere is a Platter listed at USD $565
