Wave neon lamp VMN-2 No.65

Used in voltage indicators up to 1000 V.

Consists of a flask similar to a fuse and closed with copper caps with base mastic.

Also on the lamp there is the designation "No. 65" and it is not known what it means.

The light of the lamp has low inertia and allows bright modulation with a frequency of up to 20 kHz. The lamps are connected to the power source through a current-limiting resistor so that the current through the lamp is no more than 1 milliamp (a typical value for miniature lamps), but reducing the current to 0.1...0.2 mA significantly extends the life of the lamp. The use of a lamp without a resistor is extremely dangerous, as it can lead to an overgrowth of the discharge in the arc, accompanied by an increase in the current through it to a value limited only by the internal resistance of the power source and the lead wires, and, as a result, a short circuit and (or) rupture of the cylinder lamps

The ignition voltage of the lamp is usually no more than 100 volts, the extinguishing voltage is about 40-65 volts. The service life is 80,000 hours or more (limited by the absorption of gas by the glass of the bulb and darkening of the bulb from the sprayed electrodes; there is simply no reason to "burn out" in the lamp).

The weight of the lamp is not more than 2.2 grams.
