 Ensete glaucum has a thick, green, bottle-shaped trunk, covered with white bloom, and 3-10 m tall when mature.
 The deciduous, glossy foliage consists of large, thick, long leaves that are light green in color.

 The flowering of the banana tree occurs in bracts each with 10 to 20 large green flowers.  The cylindrical inflorescence can be up to 2.5 m long.
 Monocarpic plant, Ensete glaucum dies after fruiting.  The purplish-black or grey-green, banana-shaped fruits are about 9 cm long and 3.5 cm wide.
 They contain large, black, spherical seeds measuring 1.2 cm in diameter.


 Soak snow banana seeds in lukewarm water for 1-2 days.

 Scarification is optional but recommended.

 Sow the seeds of Ensete glaucum in a light and draining substrate.

 Moisten seedlings and keep moist.

 Repot the seedlings when they are large enough to handle.

 In the spring, install the glaucous banana plants in the ground or in a 30 cm diameter pot.

 Use a mixture of horticultural compost, garden soil, highly decomposed manure and pozzolana.
