This is an antique handwritten vellum document in Her Majesty's Court of Probate titled:

Administration of the Goods of 
Joseph Dinham
deceased (27th Dec. 1854)

Dated 27th August 1861.

It has a large embossed paper seal at the bottom and all the other official stamps and embossed seals etc. The two blue paper ones on the far left have tiny bits of sheet sterling silver in them as usual....both of these are for FIVE POUNDS TEN SHILLINGS each. Sworn under £450.

Joseph Dinham late of Windham Street, Saint Marylebone, in the County of Middlesex, Artist. All to go to Anne Dinham the lawful widow. 

Google JOSEPH DINHAM surname sometimes spelt DENHAM ... famous artist and sculptor. Born c1802 and died as we see on this document 1854. He was active in his profession 1841 - 1854. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools as well as working from the studio of Sir Francis Chantrey.



Please see photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition. There are normal signs of age and use wear including some surface scuffs etc.
It has been folded and creased.
There are some foxing marks and discolouration on the creases.


It measures approx. 16 inches long in total including the wax seal x 10 and 1/2 inches.


This is one of a number of ephemera - paperwork - documents items from the 16th-20th Century that came from the David Battie collection I am currently selling. David Battie well known for being a specialist of Asian ceramics and often seen on Antiques Roadshow. He collected ephemera, pictorial sheet music and engravings too and over the next few months I will be listing some of his collection so this all has good provenance.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal Coke can, and we all know how big those are.
