c.1825 Blue & White Staffordshire Plate Shelter'd Peasants by Ralph Hall 8-5/8". The plate features a rustic scene of a shepherd, woman and child sheltered under a large tree with 3 of their flock. The border is a repeating fruit and floral pattern. It is in absolutely beautiful estate condition with NO cracks, NO repairs and NO restorations. It shows only age appropriate signs of wear with a small stacking flake in the center of the well, at the shepherd's waist, shown in close-up photos, and faint scratch marks, conducive of normal use, visible only upon close scrutiny. The glaze retains a bright shine, as shown in the photos. The backside shows expected wear along with a faint, tight hairline, seen in the photos. The blue printed branch mark with the "SHELTER'D PEASANTS" pattern name is shown on the backside. This early blue and white transferware plate comes from an old collection of early blue and white Staffordshire that we are continuing to list.
