These superb currency creations hail from Cooperstown NY, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame and namesake of its most famous native son, James Fenimore Cooper.  His most beloved character, Leatherstocking, appears in the vignette at left.

The First National Bank of Cooperstown 

These are not personal checks but rather bank drafts hand signed by the bank's head cashier! Some are issued to other banks or financial institutions including the Federal Reserve Bank (guaranteed to be included if you buy 4 lots!). All were payable through Chase National Bank, now JP Morgan Chase!

Each draft has an ornate bank title and is dated between 1910 and the 1930's (most are 1920's).  Dollar amounts - some very high! - may vary, as may the payees.  An added bonus: almost all drafts feature stamps or endorsements from other old time banks on the back!
