Description: This map was published as part of 'The English Pilot', published by Mount & Page, circa 1750.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'James Clark' after 'John Seller'. James Clark (active 1681-ca. 1700) was an English engraver. We are not sure if this is the Ia. Clark mentioned on the map. John Seller (ca. 1630-1697) was one of the early important figures in the history of the map-publishing trade in England. He was the first Englishman to try establish an atlas-publishing business comparable with Continental firms, such as Blaeu, Jansson and de Wit.
