Description: This scarse highly decorative original old antique print / plate originates from: 'Ruinen und Ueberbleibfel von Athen, nebst andern merkwurdigen Alterthumer Griechenlands, herausgegeben von M. Robert Sayer in London.' (Ruins and remains of Athens, next to other curious ancient sites of Greece, published by M. Robert Sayer in London.), published by Conrad Heinrich Stage, Augsburg, 1782. This edition is a translation from the original 1759 English edition: 'Ruins of Athens and other valuable Antiquities in Greece.'
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Georg Christoph Kilian' after an anonymous artist. The etchings / engravings are engraved by Georg Christoph Kilian, German engraver, collector, and cartographer (1709-1781), after Jean Barbault (c. 1705-1766), a French painter and engraver. Kilian was a student of Giovanni Battista Piranesi.

Subject: Antique print, titled: 'Templum Augusti. Templum Ericthei.' - Plate 9: (Temple of Augustus. Temple of Erictheus.) This plate shows temples on the Acropolis in Athens and also the Gate of Athena Archegetis. A fine architecture print.
Condition: Good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Printers creases near middle fold. Creases in corners and right margin. Small tear in lower margin, not effecting image, backed by contemporary paper and consolidated with acid free tape. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
