Scarce WW2 Field Post Office 181 cover:

Plain envelope to Read marked On Active Service with part FIELD POST OFFICE 181 24 MY 40 and censor cachet. 

FPO 181 used by the British 1st Armoured Division in France with the BEF. The division started to arrive in France on the 14th May at Cherbourg and moved into line on the river Bressle. During the period 24 -27 May they engaged the German Forces with the France 10th Army at Abbeville. The Division was later evacuated as part of the Dunkirk evacuations.
