Anubis' scales legend
In Egyptian mythology, Anubis is the guide and guardian of the dead, and only with Anubis' guardianship can the dead be sheltered. He is the god between the state of night and dawn, destined to introduce the undead to the underworld.
His main duty is the Scale of Judgment, which every undead has to pass through. At one end of the scale is the heart of the deceased, and at the other end is the feather of truth called "Mater". If the heart of the deceased weighs as much as the feather, the scale will be balanced and the deceased will be given eternal life; if the heart is heavier than the feather, it will be eaten by the devil and sent to hell.
