Description: This very scarse set of 2 prints originate from: 'Mémoires pour servir à l'Histoire Naturelle des Animaux. Dresses par Mr. Perrault, de l'Academie Royale des Sciences, Medecin de la Faculte de Paris.', published by Arkstee & Merkus in Amsterdam and Leipzig, 1758. This pioneering work in comparative anatomy was originally published in two folio volumes in Paris, France in 1671-76. The publication was the work of the famous Parisian anatomists led by Claude Perrault.
Artists and Engravers: Claude Perrault (1613-1688), was a French physician and architect. The superbly illustrated folding plates are engraved by Claude Duflos (French engraver, 1665-1727).
