BUILD-IT-YOURSELF MINI-BIKES
Can’t all ord a new Harley-Davidson
Electra Glide or a BMW R69S? Don't
give up your dreams of owning a “motor-
cycle” yet! For only $2.00. you can get
plans with which to build your own from
an old, 26-inch, middleweight bicycle frame;
a 2-3 horsepower, lawnmower-type engine
and kart-type wheels. Both the Scoot'r-Bike
and Tigr-Bike can be constructed.
The plans, plus parts and parts kits too,
arc sold by Gilliom Manufacturing Com-
pany who sells such build-it-yourself items
(for power tools and karts in addition)
directly to 71 countries around the world—
from Nyasaland to Iceland. The firm says
that no machining is required with its parts;
hacksaw, hand drill, wrench and screw
driver are all the tools necessary.
Both mini-bikes feature automatic clutch,
twist-grip throttle, chain drive, drag-type
rear brake plus 3.50x5 and 4.10x5 tires.
Each machine is smaller than a standard
scooter, but bigger than most other mini-
bikes. It can go 30 mph and get 100 miles
per gallon. With a two-stage, low-geared
drive limiting the rider to 18 mph. the bike
can be used as a golf cart, trailster or for
(he children to ride in the yard.
While almost any similar engine can be
used, Gilliom sells the 3 hp (a) 4000 rpm.
Briggs and Stratton, 4-cyclc engine for the
Scoot'r-Bike and the 2% hp (iz 4000 rpm,
Clinton A-500, 2-cycle engine for the Tig'r-
Bike.
Accessories available for these tiny two-
wheelers are standard items on larger ma-
chines except for the luggage rack: twist
grip, lights, fenders and. for the Tig'r-Bike,
high-rise handle bars and spring fork.
The $2.00 charge for the detailed, step-
by-step plans with photographs is refund-
able with an order for kits or parts. Write to
