The Singing Angels “Sing America” rings with their
message of patriotism and brotherhood. It is the music of
their slogan “Democracy In Action Through Music”.
This Bicentennial Album includes selections from
The Singing Angels 1976 TV Special “Sing America”
sponsored across the country by Sentry Hardware, and
from their national tour in cooperation with the Greater
Cleveland Bicentennial Commission, as Cleveland’s only
touring representatives.
A Bicentennial LP and Stereophonic Recording
A tribute to the Angels contribution to Americanism, was the
1974 Distinguished Award from Freedoms Foundation at
Valley Forge. They have sung for two American Presidents
including a Command Performance at the White House in
1969. In 1973 they led the Presidential Inaugural Parade
floats as the nation’s “Spirit of ’76” youth.
In 1974, Bill Boehm’s Singing Angels made three appear-
ances with Bob Hope. One was his Network Christmas TV
Special. They also sang on the NBC Today Show following
their three-week tour of Romania which was capped by a
Command Performance for President Nicolae Causescu.
Other significant events since they were formed in 1964
were their NBC-TV appearance on Kraft Music Hall. Christ-
mas Eve 1969; their performance at the Browns-Colts 1971
Championship playoff game as featured half-time enter-
tainment carried on NBC-TV; an international appearance
at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in October
1972; and four concerts as the star attraction at Garden
State Arts Center in New Jersey.
150 Performing Chorus Angels, ages 6 to 18, have won
the hearts of Greater Clevelanders in about 50 shows a year
and especially their annual “Winter Holiday Gift of Song” to
3,000 area students, their EMMY Award “Songs of Christ-
mas” Special on WEWS-TV. and two one-week appearances
supporting Wayne Newton.
The Reserve Chorus of 100 “rookies” contributes to the
Angels local esteem with a giant Caroling Crusade for 80
nursing homes and hospitals during the twelve days of
Christmas each December.
