Description: These scarse decorative lithographs originate from the famous work 'De Vogels', published in 1878. Each print is accompanied by a sheet describing the bird species. You will find more items from this series in our store.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Hermann Schlegel' after an anonymous artist. The author Hermann Schlegel (1804-1884) was a German Zoologist. He was working for the Rijksmuseum of Natural History in Leiden since 1825. Since 1828 he was the conservator. From 1860 until his death he was director. He mostly studied the animals of the Netherlands and its colonial possessions. The lithographs were made by P.W.M. Trap.

Subject: Antique print, titled: 'Vogels, PL. 14.' - Heads and claws of different species of Birds: Coracias, Alcedo, Oriolus, Sturnus, Upupa (Oriole, Kingfisher, Hoopoo, Rosy Starling, Starling). Copy of legend included.
Condition: Good, given age. Light overall foxing. Paper strip attached to top of sheet from binding, not effecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
