Pseudo-Lull Alchemical Diagrams Manuscript  c.1474
Vintage Quality Reproduction

(B.R. 52, fols. 114v-115v)
Biblioteca Nazionale, Florence

The mysterious and fascinating world of alchemy continued to capture imaginations even during the Renaissance. Scholars of that period sincerely believed that alchemy would enable them to transform base metals into Noble ones i.e., Into silver and gold. It is no wonder that alchemy handbooks, replete with methods and formulas, were composed and copied extensively. This miniature is taken from an exquisite manuscript attributed to the Spanish mystic Ramon Lull (c. 1235-1315), who actually repudiated the principles of alchemy. The manuscript includes numerous alchemical diagrams, skillfully sketched by the superb Italian miniaturist Girolamo da Cremona. At the top of the page, Lull is seen teaching his special method to Italian Renaissance alchemist.

This beautiful reproduction with bright colors and gold accents is embossed on quality glossy card stock.
