PROVENANCE
Private collection, Havana. Acquired from the original
owner by the current owner.
Studied from 1968 to 1970 at the National Academy of Fine
Arts San Alejandro and at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), in Havana. In the
80s, he was a member of the "Versions of Landscape" group, in Havana.
Since 1975, he has participated in collective exhibitions such as the
"International Print Biennale Varna 81" in Varna, Bulgaria, in 1986
in the VII Biennial of Latin American and Caribbean Engraving in San Juan,
Puerto Rico, and in the "Ibero-American Biennial of Serial Art" in
the Museum of Contemporary Art, Seville, Spain. In 1988, with Contemporary
Cuban Graphics, he was seen at the Metropolitan Museum in Tokyo. He received
the international Joan Miro award for his graphic work. He is one of the most
recognized figures in Cuban engraving, a master of the etching technique, with
an incredible drawing skill he manipulates his copper plates to recreate a
world of fables where maples and dogs coexist.
