It is a true story of the men and women of the Federal Aviation Administration and it's predecessors the Civil Aeronautics Administration and the Bereau of Air Commerce. It is not a history book (although it is historically accurate) and it is not a self-styled critique of the huge bureaucracy that as paced the growth of aviation. The book speaks little of the agency itself. It has much to say about about the people of the FAA. That being the working people who manage to make things work despite shortcomings and the bureaucratic hassles and obstacles. It is this that makes this book an easy, enjoyable read.
