Dedicated to the artist, one of the founders of Suprematism, prominent theoretician of avant-garde art, teacher - Kazimir Severynovich Malevich. A native of Kyiv, who received his primary art education at the Kyiv Drawing School of M. Murashka, Kazimir Malevich became one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, taught at art schools in Moscow, Vitebsk, St. Petersburg, and Kyiv. Ukrainian and German constructivists, American minimalists, and French abstractionists became his followers.
The obverse of the coin features: at the top on a mirror background – a small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, to the right of which is the inscription UKRAINE, on a matte background – a stylized portrait of Kazimir Malevich, at the bottom are the inscriptions – 2 HRYVNI/2019; on the left, under the portrait, the logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
On the reverse of the coin, on a matte background, a stylized and textured canvas is depicted, prepared for work, on the background of which the inscription KAZIMIR/MALEVYCH is placed below, the years of life 1879/1935 below.
