This is a good looking Early 20th Century Silver Plate Swing Handled Basket with its original Blue Glass Liner. The basket is in the style of Georgian cream pails which were common on tables in the 18th and early 19th century and made a comeback as part of the Georgian Revival in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

This is a versatile piece that could be used on the table for sauces, or indeed cream, or would work equally well with snacks or sweets in it or as a holder for potpourri.

There is no maker's mark on the basket, it is simply stamped E.P.N.S. for silver plate on the underside of the base.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the pierced section, no significant plate loss and no chips or cracks in the glass liner. Please make sure to view all the photographs as these form part of the description.

The basket is 13.5cm / 5.3ins across and stands 16cm / 6.3ins high with the handle in the upright position. It weighs in at 346g / 12.2oz.
