The NOKTON 23mm F1.2 Aspherical X Mount is a large aperture manual focus semi-wide angle lens that covers the APS-C size image circle and its optical design is optimized for the image sensor of the Fujifilm X-System cameras. The optical design is optimized for the image sensor of the Fujifilm X-System cameras.
The combination of a telecom-enabled body and the latest firmware allows for Exif information, focus check, distance-linked display, as well as in-body image stabilization and parallax correction on certain models. When the lens is attached to a camera model that does not support electrical contacts, aperture-priority auto shooting is possible by setting the release without the lens to "ON" in the camera settings.
The lens is composed of 10 elements in 6 groups, including 1 aspherical lens element on both sides and 2 elements of anomalous partial-dispersion glass, to provide a large aperture of F1.2 with excellent resolving power from the maximum aperture and a large bokeh effect.
The aperture blades consist of 12 elements with 1/3-step clicks that take into account the shape of the bokeh effect. The aperture mechanism features an aperture ring directly connected to the opening and closing of the aperture blades, similar to the mechanism used in Foktrender's VM mount and mirrorless mount lenses. Along with the comfortable feel of manual focusing as the entire lens group is ejected from the all-metal lens barrel, you can also enjoy the responsiveness of direct operation of the mechanism when opening and closing the aperture.
The minimum focusing distance is 0.18 m (1:4.9 magnification). The close-up effect produces a large bokeh effect, expanding the possibilities of shooting with a wide-open aperture to take advantage of the bokeh effect. Despite its large F1.2 aperture, the lens is compact and easy to handle, with a filter diameter of 46mm, overall length of 43.8mm, and weight of 214g. When mounted on a body equipped with an optical viewfinder, the lens comes with a dedicated straight-type screw-in hood that reduces vignetting in the shooting frame.
