Offered is a submarine first day cover postmarked from Seattle, WA dated March 21, 1986. Photo of submarine printed in blue on cachet #2654 by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964.

This early diesel vessel was converted in to cargo submarine early in WW II and served until 1945.  (See web articles for the details of her design, construction and service history)

Cover franked with a 22 cent Large-Mouth Bass stamp # 2207 (FDOI).

The cover was prepared on a gummed, archive quality envelope.
