All slabs have a live edge. Live edges are left with bark, but the bark can be removed and the live edges can be sanded. Also, we can rip slabs down the middle to prep for epoxy projects, or leave one edge square if you’d like to use it as a shelf. These prep services are complimentary. Our premium, kiln dried slabs are ready to use the moment they arrive at your home or business. Planed boards with the live-edge sanded are ready to be used as serving boards in your home or kitchen, or can be used in an epoxy project. We are able to cut the board down the center if you would like to use it in an epoxy project so you don't even need any woodworking tools. Remember that kiln dried slabs will have some natural checking. We never sell slabs that are compromised structurally, but if something breaks in shipping, we will replace for free.

The vibrant red and purple heartwood grain of Aromatic Eastern Red Cedar is unparalleled. However, it will fade when unfinished and aged (like any wood). Once you sand it, and finish it with a polyurethane, epoxy, or shellac (as soon as you’re done sanding) the color will be locked in. Sanding and finishing services are available.
