Antique Print-ENTREE A L'ECURIE-HORSES-STABLE-PARIS-Jazet-Carl Vernet-1840

Description: This scarce master print is from a series of similar stable/equestrian prints. Published by Jazet & Aumont (ca. 1840).

Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Jazet after C. Vernet. Jean-Pierre-Marie Jazet (1788-1871) was a French aquatint printmaker. A lot of his prints have Arabian/Middle Eastern themes. Carle (1758-1835) Vernet was a French painter. Carle was known for his hunting and race scenes, as well as his work as a lithographer.

Subject: Plate:'L'entree a L'ecurie' (entering the stable), showing a man on horseback leading a second horse into a stable courtyard.

Condition: Very good given age. Insect damage in the top left margin corner. Faint ghosting from previous matting around the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefuly.

Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 62 x 50 cm. The image size is ca. 50 x 42 cm.
Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 24.4 x 19.7 inch. The image size is ca. 19.7 x 16.5 inch.

Medium: Original handcoloured etching, aquatint and roulette engraved finishing on wove (velin) paper.
