The Peterson Bluebird House is a classic. It was originally designed more than 30 years ago by Dick Peterson of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. I have humbly made a few improvements including a waterproof PVC roof, ceiling insulation to moderate interior temperatures and an easy to clean waterproof PVC floor.

🏡 All joints are sealed with weatherproof glue and galvanized screws (no nails that will loosen or rust)
🏡 3-layer roof (waterproof PVC, rigid insulation, solid wood) for protection from extreme heat and cold
🏡 Removable raised vinyl-coated wire mesh floor that keeps babies safe from blowfly larvae and waste
🏡 Recessed, inclined, easy to clean PVC floor with drainage holes to keep nests dry and comfortable
🏡 Exterior sealed with water-based, non-toxic, transparent, weather-resistant finish
🏡 Dimensions custom fit to bluebirds and similar small birds
🏡 1 ½” hole size perfect for bluebirds keeps out predators and larger competitors
🏡 Angled ventilation holes to provide fresh air, moderate temperatures and keep out rain
🏡 Vinyl-coated predator guard cage with metal plate mounted on wood base keeps out reptile, mammal and avian predators
🏡 Angled 3/4" thick waterproof PVC roof moderates temperatures and sheds rain and melting snow
🏡 Bottom-hinged front panel for easy cleaning and viewing without distressing parents or their babies
🏡 Grooved “ladder” inside entrance hole enables babies to climb to their first trip outside the nest
🏡 No dowel perch. Small songbirds don’t need them, but predators and competitors love them!

🔨Constructed of all natural, sustainably grown solid cedar
🔨 Wire cage "front porch" predator guard (optional but strongly recommended)
🔨Your choice of mounting hardware included for no extra charge. Posts and pipes are not included.

The materials are expensive and it takes time to build them right. But I love helping you provide shelter for a beautiful and vulnerable species.

Be part of the inspiring recovery of the bluebird population in the U.S.A.!
