This map shows Europe before the largely unsuccessful Revolutions of 1848, also known as the Springtime of Nations. Throughout the continent, bourgeois liberals and working-class radicals engaged in a series of revolts in favor of social reform.

The Italian States (Sardinia, Tuscany, Church States, Naples, et.al) would unite until 1860; the 50 German States under the leader of Prussia not totally until1871

Bright, vibrant hand-painted colors
Quaint stylized sailing ships of the day throughout the map.
On the reverse there is a student drawing of a sailing ship.
