2005 Denver Broncos Strat-O-Matic Football. All 18 cards. Mint.

Head coach Mike Shanahan and his 2005 Broncos were a formidable squad, going 13-3 in the regular season. They ended the Patriots chance of a three-peat by drubbing Billy Boy's Brady Bunch 27-13 in Denver.

Shanahan--the Great Schemer--used his 2005 offense cleverly, alternating inside/off tackle rusher Mike Anderson with outside runner Tatum Bell to keep opposing defenses off stride. Big Ron Dayne was the third back, effective as well albeit in a lesser role. Anderson--as you see by his card--was effective in the all-important GUESSED RIGHT columns while Bell could be devastating on GUESSED WRONG card results, especially on those pitch outs, which were key to Shanahan's horizontal stretch offense, something that often wore down opponents as the games went along.

Quarterback Jake "the Snake" Plummer had arguably his best NFL season in 2005, starting all 16 regular season games and posting a passer rating above 90.

The 2005 Denver defense--led by the likes of recently traded-for Champ Bailey--was very good against the pass. The Broncos were rated by Strat-O-Matic as "EXCELLENT" against the run, as they ranked #1 overall in the league in rushing attempts against with just 344. The defense was #2 overall in rushing yardage allowed.
