THE WINERY

 

Founded in 1880, the Georg Breuer winery has been owned by the Breuer family since the beginning of the last century. Georg Breuer, to whom the winery owes its current name, continued to expand the export and estate, and his sons Heinrich and Bernhard Breuer, and subsequently Bernhard's daughter Theresa, eventually expanded the vineyard area to 40 hectares in the best Rüdesheim and Rauenthal sites.

From the early 1980s, the winery gained international recognition thanks to the vision and work of Bernhard Breuer. Today, it is managed by Theresa Breuer and long-time farm manager Hermann Schmoranz, assisted by cellar master Markus Lundén.

 

40 hectares of vineyards are cultivated in Rüdesheim (25,5 ha), Rauenthal (6,5 ha) and Lorch (8 ha) in the Rheingau, 65% of which are steep slopes.

Grape varieties: 86% Riesling, 10% Pinot Noir, 3% Pinot Gris, 1% Pinot Blanc, Orléans and Heunisch.

Our top sites in Rüdesheim: Berg Schlossberg (artist label since 1980), Berg Rottland, Berg Roseneck, in Rauenthal: Nonnenberg (sole ownership/monopoly) and in Lorch: Pfaffenwies.

 

 

The Berg Schlossberg is undisputedly the top vineyard in Rüdesheim.

The predominant slate and quartz soils here produce a finesse-rich, dry wine with a bouquet of rich aromas, from which delicate peach and nut tones particularly stand out.

born 1941 in Solothurn, Switzerland

 

Born in Switzerland, he has lived, taught and worked in Norway for many years. He is an artist of wide range: his work includes videos, photographs, installations and sculptures as well as drawings and paintings. Since the early 1980s, Brand has used mathematical principles and number systems as the basis for his artistic works.
