Fabulous and rare to find, this extra long Taxco Mexican silver necklace features 25 different kinds of colorful tumbled hardstones (some of them semi-precious) caged in sterling wire. At more than 34″ long, it is not just the variety of the stones here that impresses – there is agate, azure malachite, amethyst, quartz, black onyx and jasper among others – but its early date as well. Though post-1980 caged stone necklaces do come up, to find one dating in the 1960s-70s period like the one at hand is indeed a rarity. Hallmarks / Date: signed and hallmarked ; Maker’s initials are “SHC” and there is also “STERLING” and “925” mark; on the tongue of the clasp a 3 Eagle mark;(Taxco Mexico) 1960s-70s -Approx 116 grams and 34 1/4 inches long.
