On the Internet, you can find sets with a similar ornament and a similar shape with different markings. We were unable to identify this particular set with this particular marking. Our markings are made in gold, depicting a laurel wreath with a peak of a mountain (?) on top, the inscription "Made in Japan".
Presumably 50s or earlier.
Both the cups and saucers show through in the light, possibly bone china.
Mugs and saucers are decorated with a pattern of a pine branch with cones, made in gold. Gold edging around the edge.
Cup with scalloped edges and scalloped base. Gold borders, elegant handle with gold accents.
The saucers are made in the shape of a shell, the place for the mug is shifted from the center to the edge.
