" Fire-Ball " Otomo The Complete Works #5

This is a collection of 12 short manga created by Katsuhiro Otomo between 1978 and 1979,

when he was 24-25 years old, in the order of publication.

The following year, 1980, was the eve of the author's talent becoming known to the world

when he began to publish "Dome" and "Feeling Already at War," and his short stories, which were rising

to a level of perfection as if in gestation, changed in style with each work, forming

an astonishing multifaceted body of work.

In particular, the title story, "Fire-Ball," is an important work that opened the eyes of the author, who until

then had spun realistic human dramas, to a new genre, science fiction.

It was a milestone for the author, as it depicted "supernatural powers" that directly led to his later works

"Dome" and "Akira," and its spectacular depiction of spectacle completely changed the style of his previous works.

This collection includes two stories from "Short Peace" (1979, Kisoutengaisha), four stories from "Highway Star"

(1979, Futabasha), three stories from "GOOD WEATHER" (1981, Kitan-sha), and two stories including the title

story from "Her Thoughts..." (1990/Kodansha), including the title story.

In addition, "Distant Festival," a previously uncollected short story, is included for the first time

in this long-awaited book.

In addition, all colored manuscripts that were previously in black-and-white are now reprinted in color.

The commentary by the author himself is also worth reading.
