Zvi Ehrman was born in Poland 1903. Died in Israel 1993.

When Lvov was occupied by the Nazis, Ehrman was imprisoned in the ghetto. 
In 1942, he fled to the Caucasus and found a job as a set designer in the local theater. 
He painted this painting in the Caucasus in Tbilisi in 1943. In 1976, a family of Georgian Jews brought this painting to Israel.

Zwi Ehrman held a number of exhibitions in Europe before the Second World War.
After immigrating to Israel he became a member of the Artists' Quarter in Safed.
