NOW Yearbook Extra 1992 - Various Artists (NOW) 3CD Album
The first disc opens with giants of their genres - Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caball‚ and their incredible collaboration 'Barcelona' - which reached its peak No. 2 position in 1992. Alt Rock from R.E.M. and Crowded House follow, together with the Gary Barlow-written 'A Million Love Songs' from Take That and Kylie Minogue' 'Finer Feelings' remixed for single release by Brothers In Rhythm. 'Connected' gave Stereo MC's their first top 20 hit, while The Temptations' 'My Girl' enjoyed a resurgence upon its re-release. Up next are ballads from Lionel Richie with 'Do It To Me' and Tori Amos with her gorgeous track 'Silent All These Years'. Sade's 'Feel No Pain' leads into the disc's closing track, Elton John's poignant 'The Last Song'. Brian May's `Too Much Love Will Kill You' begins disc 2, followed by Mike Oldfield's 'Sentinel', plus fantastic covers from Cher ('Could've Been You'), KISS ('God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II'), and Manic Street Preachers ('Theme From M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless)'). The lead single from The Cure's ninth album (Wish) 'High' is here, together with Suede's debut single 'The Drowners'. Billy Ray Cyrus' signature Country hit 'Achy Breaky Heart' is included, plus Billy Joel, who recorded Elvis Presley's 'All Shook Up' for the film 'Honeymoon In Vegas'. Crowded House have their second appearance on this album with 'Four Seasons In One Day' and the disc comes to a close with two beautiful ballads from Belinda Carlisle and Gloria Estefan. En Vogue open the last disc with their acclaimed hit 'Free Your Mind'. 1992 saw different genres of Dance music find Chart success - Felix's 'Don't You Want Me', Urban Hype's 'A Trip To Trumpton', and Doctor Spin's 'Tetris' were all Pop-Trance hits. Dina Carroll and Cece Peniston enjoyed House crossover hits, and Kylie Minogue, Take That, and Undercover produced Pop floor-fillers. Covers from The Pasadenas, Curiosity, and Nick Berry lead into Boney M.'s celebratory 'Megamix', and the album rounds of with Darlene Love's 'All Alone On Christmas', taken from the Home Alone 2 Soundtrack. 'NOW - Yearbook Extra 1992' - a further celebration of the diversity and magic of the year in Pop.
