Elvin Hayes is a former power forward who is often considered to be one of the best in NBA history. A special player, Elvin was noted for both his offensive and defensive play and also his amazing consistency. Elvin was a star in college at the University of Houston and was a 2-time consensus All-American and the College Player of the Year in 1968. He was drafted by the San Diego Rockets. In his first season he won the NBA scoring title and in his second he won the NBA rebounding title (he won another rebounding title in 1974.) During his career, which he spent with the San Diego/Houston Rockets (1969-1971, 1981-1984) and the Baltimore/Washington Bullets (1972-1981), Elvin was a 12-time NBA All-Star and a 6-time All-NBA selection. Elvin played 16 seasons in the NBA and is 3rd all-time in minutes in minutes played. He won a NBA title with the Bullets in 1978 and he was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990.
