When a star soccer coach is murdered and his priceless Pink Panther diamond stolen, France is in an uproar. Fortunately, Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin, Bowfinger, Cheaper By the Dozen) is on the case. He doesn't have a clue, but for Clouseau, that's just a minor detail. With his partner, Gilbert Ponton (Jean Reno, The Professional), he careens from one misadventure to the next, leaving mayhem in his wake from the boulevards of Paris to the streets of New York.
Will he seduce the pop diva, Xania (Beyonce Knowles, Austin Powers-Goldmember)? Will he push Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Oscar Winner Kevin Kline, A Fish Called Wanda) over the edge? Will he catch the killer and recover the diamond? With Inspector Closeau, anything is possible.
Bumbling Inspector Clouseau must solve the murder of a famous soccer coach and find out who stole the infamous Pink Panther diamond. Before thousands of enthusiastic spectators at the World Cup semi-finals between France and China, an elusive professional assassin murders the famous French coach, and manages somehow to steal from his hand his prized possession -- the priceless Pink Panther diamond ring.
Now, of all the Parisian Police Force's detectives, the deceitful Chief Inspector Dreyfus decides to appoint the maladroit investigator, Jacques Closeau, to this difficult and mysterious case, knowing that the eccentric gendarme is way out of his depth. Does Dreyfus have a hidden agenda? Can France's clueless and most bumbling officer of the law piece together the scarce leads to pull off a surprising success?
