This is an original press photo. A.F. of L. Food Council of New Orleans pickets in front of a Capital Store Supermarket in Gentilly. Capital Stores was a subsidiary of Consolidated Company, Inc., operated by the Kurzweg family, and was subsequently sold to National Tea Co., which operated the National Canal Villere Supermarket. Photo sumitted to Picture from the Past by: WIlliam M. Barnett, Gulf, Barnett & Shushan, LLP, attorneys and counselors at law. William Barnett's father, H.L. Barnett was the attorney for Capitol Stores and successfully had the pickets removed from private property, restricting them to the public sidewalk some distance from the building.Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated --1949.
