History of the creation of the postage stamp «Ukraine-mother» and «Eternal memory»

«Ukraine-mother

The postage stamp, interpreted by the artist Zinaida Kubar, depicts a majestic monument, known to every Ukrainian, rising on the Pechersk Mountains of Kiev and being one of the highest in the world (102 m, sculptor Vasyl Boroday).

On the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Independence of Ukraine, the monument with a shield facing Russia instead of the dismantled coat of arms of the totalitarian regime was crowned with a trident.

«Eternal memory»

On August 29 Ukraine marks the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine. This date was established to honour the memory of military personnel and members of volunteer formations who laid down their lives for their country, as a reminder of one of the bloodiest events of the russian-Ukrainian war in the east of the country - the Ilovaisk tragedy.

The "green corridor" that was deadly for our defenders then ran through sunflower fields, so the sunflower became the symbol of the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine

russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 triggered a new wave of heroism, resilience of defenders of Ukraine and, unfortunately, painful losses.

Our memory of them is bright, our gratitude to them is boundless, and our respect is the highest. We remember and will continue to remember!

The reproduction of the painting "Sorrow" (2016) by Honoured Artist of Ukraine Oleh Shupliak is used as a plot of the postage stamp, dedicated to Remembrance Day.

By purchasing these postage stamps, you not only add uniqueness to your collection, but also express your support for the struggle for the independence and dignity of Ukraine. Remember that this is not just a brand, but a symbol of the courage, will and pride of our people.
