Other than a light wipe with a damp cloth, I do not clean the salt and peppers.  I'm not an expert in this area and do not want to risk damaging the item, paint or finish.  I feel this is best left up to the buyer.

I recently acquired a collection of more than 1000 salt and pepper sets from an estate.
