This lithograph was made from the original drawings by Captain Seth Eastman for the US Congress under the direction of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. This and many other illustrations were part of the publication/book "Historical Statistical Information Respecting the History, Condition and Prospects of the Indian Tribes of the United States", published in 1847. The book was written by Henry Rowe Schoolcraft and illustrated by Capt. Eastman.
