 The New Bon Ton Magazine; or Telescope of the Times was a monthly satirical journal published by John Johnston of Cheapside from May 1818 until April 1821. Its contents were primarily political in nature and focused on the fight for political and social reform in the Peterloo era.

**London; Printed for James Johnston, Cheapside. A Rarity, a single monthly issue of the Bon Ton Magazine. Bound in the original printed publishers wraps. 8vo measuring; 22.5cm x 14.7cm. With the hand coloured engraved frontispiece. Pagination; [1], 10-72pp. November 1819**

Only single issue for sale on the internet. A rare satirical periodical. With the hand coloured engraved plate. 

Contents include "Portrait of an old spanker - Scenes at the London Tavern - Anecdote of Sir Isaac Newton - A Female Spanker


Condition: See photos as part of condition report: Collates as complete, with the original wraps, hand coloured frontispiece and text. Period ink name to the upper margin of the front wrap, corners turned, edges a little chipped. paper to the spine chipped with loss. Text block spilt to the upper half and lower of the spine [all pages attached though, to the middle part]. Tissue guard lacking, First text leaf with imprint of frontis, rest of the text mostly clean with browning to the upper page edge. Intermittent pages still joined to the top edge.
