Mino Ware Iron glazed tea bowl (Spatula pressed) Era: Mid Edo period The box says Kujiri-yaki Chawan.
This is Mino ware Kujiri kiln. The box of this tea bowl has the words "Seto Antique Ceramic Review Committee" written on it, along with its seal. For antique ceramics, this represents a prestigious and historically authentic lineage.
The shape is very unique because the body has been pressed with a bamboo spatula. Such a design is quite rare for items from the mid Edo period.
It is coated with a type of iron glaze called "soba-yuu", which has little shine. Due to the iron content crystallizing, it has a very subdued and calm atmosphere.
The overall shape is easier to appreciate in a video, so I will upload one later. SIZE Diameter: 12.7cm×12cm

(Box) 14cm×14.5cm×9.5cm total weight: 505g Condition: used / It is in very good condition with no scratches or stains.
