Badlands is in south-western South Dakota is one of America's National Parks and Monuments. The interesting rock formations and visitors center are administered by the National Park Service. The park also offers the visitor a good view of wildlife. See the park's web site to learn the details of the site construction and site history. This unique nature site is good for US citizens and foreign visitors. After a rain storm the colors in the rocks are drawn out. The area was avoided by early settler's wagon-trains due to the very difficult terrain, thus the name "badlands".

Cover franked with a 25 cent South Dakota Statehood stamp (pioneer woman, sod house)# 2416 and a 55 cent flag stamp. The cover was prepared on an un-gummed, quality envelope. There is also a listed postal card # UXC-28 for this site.
