From a correspondent: "Age of this spoon is 1872 to 1880. The purity mark of 10.15 reflects purity of 84.6% silver and not the 90% purity you have in the ITEM SPECIFICS. While 90% seems to be average in the northern states... southern coin silver is sometimes as low as 60%. Baltimore used two markings for coin silver. 10.15 which was made from imported Spanish coins, that the Baltimore Silver Guild brought in specifically to melt. Those coins were 10.15 / 12 parts silver (troy). The other were FRENCH coins also imported and those had a purity of 91.6% silver... so slightly over the 90% but less than 925 sterling.
